The Minimalist — One-Line Drawing Challenge with Friends

Bid on how few lines you need, then draw within your limit. Play The Minimalist online, a drawing and guessing challenge for friends.

2–8 players · Free to play · No download · No account required

What is The Minimalist?

See the prompt and bid on how few continuous lines you need. The lowest bidder draws within that limit. A one-line bid means drawing the whole prompt without lifting the mouse.

How to play

  1. Join the same room and read the bidding prompt.
  2. Bid from one to six continuous lines. The lowest bidder gets the drawing task.
  3. The selected player draws within the winning line limit. Releasing the pointer ends a continuous line.
  4. The other players try to identify the drawing before the guessing timer ends.

Who is it for?

Small groups who enjoy clever simplification and friendly competition more than detailed artwork.

Try this in your first game

For “fish”, one looping outline can suggest a body and tail. Think about whether a second line for the eye would actually help.

  • Plan the route of your stroke before pressing down.
  • A confident bid is only useful if your friends can recognise the result.
  • Use the outer silhouette of the object rather than several disconnected details.

Before you invite your friends

How does my friend join?

One person creates the lobby and shares its room code or full invite link. Everyone else joins that same room. Creating a second room will put you in separate games.

Can we play on phones?

Yes. Use a browser on each device and keep the game tab open during the round. A larger screen gives drawings more room. For a call, use your usual voice or video app separately.

Do we need accounts?

No account or download is required to play these games with friends.
